About Us

The Gawler Rangers Baseball Club came into existence on August 26th, 2007 after local, experienced baseball people and BaseballSA Life Members Barry O’Brien and Robert Laidlaw decided the time was right to establish the game in Gawler and surrounding districts. Massive housing developments are planned in the area, which is expected to increase in population to 50,000 people in the next ten years.

After some issues with establishing roots, the club secured a position in the Karbeethan Sporting Association and had now found a place to call home – Karbeethan Reserve on Angle Vale Road, Evanston Gardens. After a number of junior premierships in our short 10 year history, we managed to secure our first ever senior premiership with our inaugural Women’s team taking the flag in our anniversary season. We are proud of our achievements in such a short time, and look forward to getting better and better. Our ground has undergone a major redevelopment with our infield base paths being skun, making our diamond the premier playing field in the region. We have erected a major netting upgrade in August 2018, and plans are in motion for major fencing, lighting and dugout upgrades.

Gawler Rangers caters for all abilities and has members with ages ranging from 3 to 70. In season 2020/21 the club is fielding four senior teams: Division 2, 3, 6 and 7, a Women’s team and six junior teams. We also have a number of t-ball teams entered in a joint competition with the Gawler & Districts Softball Association. We are striving to build and field more teams, aiming for Division 1 in our 5-Year Strategic Plan.

All baseball teams play in the regular Adelaide based metropolitan competition governed by Baseball South Australia, with the women’s team competing in the WBL. Locations of where games are played for each division are available in the Schedules section of club communication app Team App. T-Ball is played exclusively at our home ground.

We are proud to be partnered with Gawler & District College in the implementation and development of a school-based specialist baseball program, where students can choose baseball as a subject in place of core HPE lessons. This is a major achievement for the school, our club members and our local area, and a huge step towards promoting and growing our sport.

Throughout the off-season our members play winter baseball locally on Saturdays between northern clubs. We have connections with the Port Pirie Night Baseball League and the Riverland Baseball League. We are also building a strong relationship with the Sunraysia Baseball League in Mildura, whose season runs during winter.
